I need to pick y'alls brains. I just got a resin Mercury Montego to do the Cam 2 car but I have never worked with a resin body. There are a few spots that I need to massage. Can I sand it? What can I use to fill a few small nicks? Also what would be a good donor kit to use for the chassis? Thanks for any suggestions. |

You can sand but do so carefully, resin is softer than plastic. Filling can be any good putty. Be sure to wash the body well before priming, there is usually a mold releasing agent on resin and it needs to be thoroughly cleaned so paint will adhere.
If you have one of the AMT NASCAR kits, the old Thunderbirds would be correct, You need to lengthen the chassis about 5/16 inch to make it fit the longer wheelbase Mercury. The engine would be correct as well. |
