Does anyone have any sources for 81-85 Oldsmobile bodies that would fit on an available kit?

Many Moons Ago - someone did a 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass vacuum - form kit, with hood, nose, and rear bumper, for use on the Monogram Buick. I also recall Monogram did a Hurst Oldsmobile kit, though it would require a bit of re - work.

Would you be interested in something like this?

This is a resin body that I got years and years ago. Probably during my Bench Racer days. I always had the idea of doing an AJ Foyt car with it but decals are unavailable.

It fits over a first generation Monogram Buick/MonteCarlo chassis perfectly. The grill detail is rather indistinct but otherwise it's pretty good.[/img]

I absolutely love that the body pic wasn't just taken with it sitting on the table, but carefully placed on 4 to-scale jack stands! Smile

My apologies TC, I thought you were asking IF there had been an early 80s Olds, not IS there an early 80s olds option available. Yes, yes there is ... http://stores.smhracing.com/81-84-olds-cutlass-nascar/

Quite a few NASCAR teams used the Olds Cutlass, at least at the beginning of the 1981 season, including Hoss Ellington / Buddy Baker UNO car # 1, Five Racers / Donnie Allison # 12, Jim Gilmore / A.J. Foyt Valvoline # 14, M.C. Anderson / Cale Yarborough Valvoline car # 27, Dave Marcis Buck Stove # 71, DiGard / Ricky Rudd Gatorade # 88, and a few others I've forgotton. Of the front running teams only Foyt & DiGard would keep running the Olds, with DiGard using theirs as a short track car once the 1981 Buick Regal proved itself as the GM car body to have.

It looks like both the models shown below are the same resin kit. It has possibilities, though several areas caught my eye:
-- The opera window is still the Buick design; the Olds had a curve on the lower trailing edge.
-- The trunk lid is likewise the Buick design, without the sunken center of the Olds. Not a hard fix if you are comfortable with using a snap saw. Just cut inboard of each edge a 1/4 inch or so, and trim away the tail panel to allow the center to drop down.

Ace decals has one listed on his site. It's a SMH resin.

here is a picture of a resin oldsmobile conversion. You will need a monogram buick to do the conversion. I have a couple left. $15.00 plus s/h if interested.

While not perfect I built this OLDS from a Buick back when the kits were new.
