Another GREAT looking build!!!

I didn't start following NASCAR until Aug 1968 when I discovered Stock Car Racing magazine, but only because that issue had the story on the '68 Indy 500. And I was hooked on NASCAR at that time. In part, racing season in the upper Mid-West only lasted from early May to the beginning of Sept...
Between this sight and a couple of others, I've been getting an "education" on older NASCAR, USAC and others as to the cars of the earlier days of stock car racing...

nice work Gator. Goldsmith also drove a 1965 Plymouth at the 66 Daytona 500. Won one of the qualifying races and seemed to be the only car that could run with Petty. I've been working on one for some time now maybe this will give me a push to move forward. It was a Nichols car. Again good work.

Agree - that '65 was a beast. It was recycled for the '67 Permatex Sportsman race- backdated with a '64 nose to qualify. Finished 2nd!
keep in mind Nichels' '65 builds had branched rear down-bars on the rollcage. Like '64 style short bars with extra bars added about 1/3 of the way down, which went back to the rear of the frame.

The cage - or the car?
