Thank you. Won't be installing inner fenders so I needed to fabricate a core support to support the front fenders.

Also fabricated a front splash pan.

Man, does that bring back memories. In ‘68 I was a freshman at College of the Redwoods in Eureka. There was a bunch of local guys that raced at Samoa raceway, when they were’nt attending classes. One guy owned a tricked up Falcon just like this one with a big side oiler under the hood. We watched it run at Samoa, and it was crazy fast. It actually was street legal, and he periodically drove it to school.

Thanks Bill. Fabricated a simple roll hoop.

Modified the Johan wheel on the right and asked a friend to resin cast them for me.

That was the only way these little Falcons ever looked good to me! Laughing
Can't wait to see it done!

There were several in this area that went from drag strip to street use back in the late 60's early 70's!

Thanks OldTrucker. I think these little Falcons make great race cars. I'm building a '64 as a Trans-Am car.

Man AFX...it's good to be back and see some of your great fab work. I also like the early falcons. Both of these cars look great.

I Remember the guy that owned the one I mentioned worrying about tire size, and compounds, because he drove the car on the street, and wheelie bars were forbidden. So he had to get the rear tires just right. Also hole saws were pretty new at that time, so he cheesed both front and rear bumpers, to lighten them up. Because of course this was back in the days when street cars were required to have bumpers.
I love where this build is going. I can’t wait to see it finished.

That engine looks GREAT JC. What Body color are you going with on this? To be honest JC...I'm not that much of a Gasser fan. I do like all the mechanical s and BB engines( and their sound) but...you are doing such great fab work...and the car is sitting level ( more so than the Nose in the AIR attitude) that I'm liking this car a lot. Plus...it's a falcon....Loved the early Falcons...

Thanks Gary. Haven't decide on color, might be a weekend warrior primer paint job. Not a big drag race guy but I do like some of the old school stuff. Built a Dragonsnake about a year ago or so. First drag car I built since I was a teenager the Falcon will be my 2nd.

That Snake looks GREAT JC. I've got a few of those...haven't built one as of yet. Seeing how it looks from the side shot makes me want to build it right now...

I think the Falcon I remember had tripower instead of two fours, probably to make it more steetable. I do remember he opened up the front of the mock scoop on the hood, to get it a little more air. It was painted light cream, which might have been the original color, with red metal dash, and door frames. The seats were early black mustangs, with a full racing harness.
I remember all these details because the car I was driving was a ‘62 Fairlane two door in the same colors inside and out. And, boy did I envy that nose bleed stance, and that big block.

Thanks RJ. Olderndirt the cream white color is Ford's "Wimbledon White". That is the color of the white Cobra above. Tamiya's "Racing White" is what I used to replicate it.

Thanks Gary, for color I'm thinking something in the turquoise range.

Scoop is from the Revelle '70 Mustang.

O.K. Now you’ve done it. I knew I had two little Ranchero’s squirreled away. So I dug them out, and am working on one now instead of finishing some other projects. This is all your fault. Where did you get the photo etched grill? One look at the kit grill told me why you opted for the photo etched grill.

I accept full responsibility. An on-line friend made the PE grille for me. I saw one he had made for himself and was able to pursued him to make one for me. Apparently there is a kit you can buy to make your own PE.

It sure looks good JC. I think you can get a photo-etch kit from Micro Mark. I was looking into to that a little and changed my mind. More stuff that's involved than I want to mess with.

Man JC...this really turned out GREAT bud! Your clean building techniques and attention to the small details...really show in this build. Like I mentioned earlier...I'm not a big fan of the gasser class...but this look is about the only look I like. Great job...you make me want to try one...LOL

I’d paint the hood flat black, with hood pins on the front. Oh, and add the E.T. and, or class on the windshield in white shoe polish.
By the way the paint color is perfect. Back then if the paint was good, you ran it, and put the money in the drive train.
