|
|
First I'll say that I didn't know that Super Glue fumes would craze the finish of Bare ,Metal Foil the same way that it does to windshields and other clear pieces.
I had just put the chin spoiler on a '69 K&K car using a a combination of super glue and regular Testors, not mixed but alternating a dot of each all the way across the top of it. The spoiler that I put on was cut from styrene and covered with Bare Metal Foil matte aluminum. I got the results I wanted mounting-wise but when I returned a couple of hours later to see how it had bonded, the whole upper 3/4s of the foil was crazed white. Not wanting to take it back off or try to put another foil job on it I decided to try some Future floor wax before doing either. (13 year old bottle, going strong). I was amazed at how it completely got rid of the craze effect with one application. I had had this work on really small places on a windshield or two that were crazed but am not sure that after putting a second coat of Future after the first one dried completely that the spoiler doesn't look better than when I started. It helped to seal down the edges of the foil where I brushed along them also. |

There is a CA glue that is foam safe which means it wont craze clear plastic , BSI Super Gold is just one name it goes by. I would give that a try. |

Thanks for the heads-up martinfan. I checked out BSI's site and found a couple of other blends such as their gap filler that I'll try too. Looks like Wal-Mart carries it.
Thanks,
