I doubt anyone here is overly interested but, I thought I'd let you know about this just in case.

That would be the Plymouth Roadrunner, not the charger (as shown on the box). That is what makes the set rare. As far as I've been able to find out, this was a limited set sold at the tracks only. About a thousand were made and it was only available one year and neither the RR or Malibu were ever seen again. Set only cars.

Praying it sells so I can afford a 3d printer and a scanner. Pretty sure my parts will get even better if that happens.

If you are a member here and bid/win, I will refund the shipping charge and go out of pocket.

Sure wish I could afford it! Never seen the set box before, and it has always surprised me that I've seen probably a half dozen of the Malibu (and owned 2) but have never seen the Roadrunner, maybe more fragile with fewer survivors? Definitely one of the rarest sets out there, if not THE rarest!

Probably the rarest of them all. The story goes like this and keep in mind I heard it elsewhere. In 1972 NASCAR wanted a promotional set. I have heard, they were available at Sears, after the season but that the bulk, were sold at tracks only, primarily Daytona and Darlington. The Roadrunner, if you look closely is a modified (enlarged and added to) AF/X body. The Malibu is much tougher due to the window A pillars being much thicker. Most of the RR's had broken or missing posts.
SO, The set was planned for 1972/3 but, Coca Cola was a major holdup. They dickered around until finally a deal was reached and a set created containing two cars that never ran against each other! The ad states 1975 but I've also heard 1976
The deal was an exclusive and both Petty and Allison agreed the cars would be in this set only. So, with 40 some odd years of attrition and about only a thousand in existence to begin with, the RR is likely one of the rarest cars out there.
Most of the one's I've seen are beat to death. I have one extra of each. The extra Mali has been stripped of paint and the RR has missing windows and one broken pillar.

Back in the 1990's when I was "chasing" primarily 1/64th NASCAR die cast cars, i found a Typo Pro 2 car set of a Petty Superbird and one other, not sure which Petty car it was, quite possibly the Pontiac of the time these were out for sale, 2 cars alone, no actual race set. Like 95%+ plus of my die-casr collection, has been packed away since late 2000.
Found those at Toy'r 'R' Us in SoCal....

At one time I had some Aurora A/FX track and cars, that I went after in late 1971/early 1972, started off with a small set, then bought some additional track both in Iowa and SoCal in the early '70's.....Escept for 3 or 4 of the cars, the rest is gone.

That was likely the 1990 Pontiac with the Bird. I think that was the set anyway.

Not yet. I have left ebay behind due to their totalitarian practices. I still have it and it's currently listed on Bonanza.
