Car was originally built with a Chevy body and Chevy W head truck engine.
LeeRoy blew that engine at the Saturday night race in Jacksonville. There was
a big modified/supermodified race in nearby Waycross, Ga. on Sunday so Red
Moore and his crew had to think and work fast.
No chevy engine available, just a a big hemi out of the wrecked 39 Ford sedan
(posted earlier, still on the front page).
Long story short. Changed the engine, added sides to the hood to hide what was under
there, towed to Waycross and won. Beat all the lightweight supermods with a heavy
modified but with lots of horsepower!!!
This all took plae in 1960...
the headers are made from aluminum tubing. The tires and rims are from BigDonkey resin.

with the Hemi engine the car ran with a covered hood. With the chevy engine it was open.

An early model Hemi. This one came out of the revell 32 Ford coupe kit. This is a fantastic model kit put out by revell. started to wire up the engine but thats such a pain...

The front part of the body is Revell 32 Ford Coupe. The back is AMT 34 Ford. No Chevy five window coupe available
that I could find so had to made do. Opened up the port hold windows like a chevy and cut the door down as per the real car.
Far from perfect but interesting...
