Can someone tell me what the deal was with the backwards #9 at the Darlington race? Never have heard why it was that way.

The version told by bill was it was painted backwards by accident but by this point they were decals so i assume it was for luck.

Yep, I found that in a 2013 Q&A with Bill after I posted the question. He said a guy at the shop (whom he said had probably been working 24 hrs. straight) placed a stencil backward. I've also heard the notion repeated more than once over the years that the '85 speedway car was "small", a la Smokey's 7/8th Chevelle. Don't know 'bout that but I do know for a fact that it was FAST:)
That was a popular subject to build back in the day when they came out and I've seen about as many of those as anyting (except maybe Earnhardt cars) but your version is hands down, the best looking I've encountered. Outstanding work!
