I thought I would start on a Touring Car and decided to get into a Tamiya DTM C Class Mercedes. I have had the kit and decals for a long time so rather than doing the D2 car that the kit is I will do Pedro Lamy's 24 Hour Service version. So far all I have done is get most of the body faring on and a light mist of white primer put the cage together and then sanded all the sink marks, which there are plenty. I think this will stay OOB and I will decide if I even go with some CF decal in the engine area.

I was looking for something to paint after wrapping up the Reynard and this jumped out at me. I have to say i do not enjoy painting white with rattle cans, i always seem to stuff it up some how. So with the new Tamiya LP paints i thought lets go with the airbrush and see how it works....I do like them a lot, they are great to use and easy to spray with i mixed mine with around 10% acrylic thinner.

Thanks guys, Gary I got it at a LHS, not sure if it’s available in the US? Best ask I guess.

So the decal fun begins...
This is my first time with Studio 27 decals and so far so good. They nice and thin and for a sheet that is around 19 years old they are behaving beautifully. There are some large decals on this one so I’m taking deep breaths.

Well for a first time user of Studio 27 decals i am impressed. They are conforming well and are quite strong and react well to solvent and heat.

I have moved into doing some engine work, there isn’t much to see when this is all put together. I thought I’d add a little bit of CF highlights to some parts.

Starting to wrap this one up now...I do enjoy when i get to the final stages, I just now cross my fingers that I don't stuff it up. Seat and belts are now in.

Engine and airbox now in place.

And my first time of using the Tamiya masks for the clear section, nerve raking time when you hit it with a spray hoping that there is no paint bleed etc. Lucky for me it worked out..
