Sorry if this is a dead horse, but....
1) I see some NASCAR pics with Yellow and some with White GOODYEAR stenciling on the sidewalls, what's the difference other than color?
2) The center "cap" on wheels/rims have a 5 point "star" painted/marked on them, what is this for?
3) Some photos show a "stripe" of some color across the sidewall and onto the rim, please explain the purpose?
4) Lug nuts...same color as rims, a contrasting color as a preference or is it to assist the tire changer to be quicker?

White lettered Goodyears were used until the season finale at Atlanta in 1992, that race was the debut of the yellow letters. The star on the center car in a directional marker for the lug nuts. I'm not sure on the tape stripe. Lug nuts I generally paint with a steel finish. _________________ life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid. John Wayne |

It sounds like the "stripe" you are referring to is to check for wheel slip. |
