I was looking at Shunters gorgeous build of Marks '89 Strohs car in the Fab Shop, and it got me to thinking. Mark drove some really sharp cars throughout his career. So, which car do you think of when you think of all his rides? My pick is his ASA Camaro. The one built using a late seventies Camaro. Orange and White car, #2. I always thought it was beautiful. What's yours?

I'm kinda with Dave.....Valvoline was the car I most tie to him, however the old Viagra car turned a few heads when it hit the track.

I remember the first time I saw Mark Martin race, in '77 or '78. He was about 17, looked 14. He and Davey Allison a year or two later were so different from the hairy knuckled, unfiltered Camel smoking 35 year old guys who tended to be the ones racing Late Models in the '70s. The changing of the guard.

Viagra has some stiff competition with Valvoline, Strohs, Folgers, Winn Dixie.

Either his 1993 (4 wins in a row, on all different types of tracks) or his 1997 Talladega “fastest race ever” Valvoline cars.

For me it was the Valvoline T-Bird:

I also remember a very young Mark Martin coming to B.I.R. (Birmingham International Raceway) in the late '70s in his orange and white Camaro:

The first couple years of the Valvoline sponsorship when we really got to know him, I think he finished second in the championship twice in that time and of course the four in a row. The gold on red Folgers car was beautiful as well and the monogram decals were among the best they did, but yeah, I'm going to go with the one that RJ posted.

I was looking at doing a Mark Martin Folgers car. Are the 89-93
bodies warped like the 96-97 Tbirds were. I had nothing but bad
luck with Jarrett and Elliot cars from the late 90s. Thanks---John

I built several of the first issue 89 Tbirds, (Kulwicki/Allison). Never had an issue with any of them being warped.

I think this car put a little extra jolt in every cup of morning coffee - Danke, Gretchen - enjoyed by Earnhardt fans.

Not sure Martin was ever viewed as championship material after that final Atlanta race in 1990. But it was a darn good looking car, nonetheless.
